Basketball as a Mission

Description

Basketball as a Mission is a non-profit that was created in order to give underprivileged children opportunities to play different sports and to interact with coaches and players from the United States. Coaches travel from all over the US to other countries to run a week-long basketball camp (all expenses paid for the campers) where they distribute equipment, apparel, nutrition, water, a knowledge of the sport and love to campers. This year we will also incorporate a brief self-defense session into each camp in order to provide children with some form of protection in a dangerous society. We run strictly on donations and fundraising, all coaches are required to fundraise to pay for their flight. Since 2005, we have run 11 camps, helped over 400 children, 20 coaches, and we will expand again this year with two more camps this summer for 200 campers and 25 coaches.
