Description
The goal of the 55 Alive After School Program is to provide quality physical education programs that increase physical fitness, encourage healthy eating habits, improve self-esteem and reduce the risk of chronic illness and obesity, so that children can be active and healthy for a lifetime.
Participants take part in a comprehensive program with a variety of sports, nutrition, and life skills activities. The traditional sports curriculum includes football, baseball, soccer, volleyball and floor hockey. Nontraditional sports options include martial art, yoga, and ultimate frisbee, and hip-hop dance. All lessons teach the basic fundamentals and rules of the game or activity while promoting sportsmanship and developing strength and flexibility.
