Who we are Remineralize the Earth (RTE) is a Northampton, MA-based 501(c)3 non-profit organization engaged in a variety of projects both domestically and internationally that promote the use of finely ground rock dust and sea-based minerals to restore soils. Through our education and outreach, projects, research, and advocacy, RTE facilitates a worldwide movement that brings together gardeners and farmers, scientists and policymakers, and the public to regenerate soils and forests around the world, increase the nutritional quality and yield of food, and stabilize the climate through carbon sequestration. We work with local and remote volunteers on Basecamp and Slack. Our team is made up of federal work-study students, graduate students, researchers, experts and professionals. Position Description RTE is seeking an experienced Accountant/CPA to join our exciting environmental nonprofit. The Accountant will advise the Executive Director, create financial reports for our quarterly Board meetings, put together our IRS 990-EZ and MA-PC forms for our yearly tax returns, and reconcile bank and other financial statements. Applicants must be based in the US. The ideal candidate will be accurate, timely, detail-oriented, and responsive. We utilize Quickbooks Online for our accounting. We are looking for a time commitment of 5 hours per month or less, with added flexibility around the tax filing season in April and May. About the position We are excited to add one more person to our IT team, which is going to be creating a new website. The ideal candidate should be a full-stack developer who has substantial experience and understanding of building WordPress websites and PHP, in addition to HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. You would be working with a team of developers and designers to build a new website over the next 3-6 months. The website is a large undertaking with several components including, but not limited to, news, blog, and feature articles, the only online Research Database dedicated to remineralization and enhanced rock weathering, and a Resource Directory. Our team is made up of federal work-study students as well as graduate students, researchers, and other professionals. Science Writing Our goal is to produce accessible and high-quality information that can be available on our website to policy makers, researchers, donors, farmers and the general public. We are looking for science writers who can write the content for our website. Major responsibilities include: Writing website content such as articles, blogs, latest news and events (this includes editing photos and graphics) Reading scientific journal papers and writing articles for our website explaining the results and potential impacts of new scientific developments Reporting on what’s happening around the world of remineralization Networking and promoting other projects and institutions around the world working on similar missions For this position, we are looking for someone with a background and experience in journalism, communications, English or a background in environmental/climate science, agriculture, and geology. A minimum of 5 hours per week is required. Have a look at the RTE website to get an idea of the types of featured articles and blog posts we are looking for. We do not want the writing on the website to be all academic, we are looking for people who can put together magazine features in a popular science vein for the general public. Why RTE? Our team is made up of federal work-study students as well as graduate students, researchers, experts and other professionals. The Grant Writer will maximize financial support, and seek foundation and government grants to support RTE's mission and goals. Grant writer will report to the team and executive director. Team members will be responsible for researching new grant opportunities, helping put together grant proposals and reaching out to potential large donors and grant makers. The grant writing team has weekly virtual meetings, every Wednesday, from 2:00 - 3:00 PM EDT, which you will need to be available for. The team communicates on Slack and Basecamp, so volunteers are required to have access to high-speed internet and a computer or laptop. Grant research and Grant writing Primary Responsibilities Include: Develop grant reports. Assist with preparing project budgets and writing budget narratives Research, identify and qualify funding opportunities. Initiate communication with the grant writing team Develop a deep understanding of organizational goals and program content. Oversee grants calendar and maintain up-to-date database records. Support RTE's fundraising initiatives. Develop materials that show the progress of programs for donor updates and ongoing communications. Skills and Experience Required Bachelors Degree At least 2 years of professional grant writing experience. Knowledge of the principles and practices of writing proposals, grants, and necessary research. A background in environmental science, sustainability and/or regenerative agriculture a plus. Proficient in digital tools and software (Google suite, Microsoft Office, project management software) A Commitment of 5 hours per week. The opportunity can be remote/virtual or local (Northampton, MA). Preferred Skills and Experience 3-4 years of professional Grant writing and research experience. Able to analyze and synthesize data and information from multiple sources. Highly proficient in digital tools and software (Google Suite, Microsoft Office, Basecamp, Slack) A Commitment of 7-10 hours per week. Please take a look at our website: https://remineralize.org/ Position Description The assistant will be working for the Executive Director and this position is remote but you will able available from 10:00 AM - 12:30 PM EST, Monday - Friday. A native or fluent English speaker is preferred as you will be working together with the ED and things move along quickly. If you can only commit to 2-3 days of the week, it may still be worth bringing you on. We generally like to have 2-3 assistants working together. We would hope to have a candidate who will volunteer with us ongoing, or at least for three months. Description of the position and tasks include: Communicating with volunteers worldwide with Slack, Basecamp, and emails. Manage Executive Director's calendar and schedule meetings and interviews Assisting the Executive Director in bridging and sustaining relationships with remineralization scientists and companies, international coordinators, via email. Assist with researching for resources to fill databases for remineralization and global rock dust sources. Potential to create your own projects based on your level of interest and capacity. Organizing files, filling out forms, and performing other related administrative non-profit tasks. Assist with copywriting, editing, and proofreading articles for our website, internal and external documents related to grant writing, legislative initiatives, and our education and outreach projects. Requirements: Reliable access to high-speed internet and a laptop/computer Must be able to work in EST timezone. If you are in the EST timezone, that's even better! Hours I need an assistant are 10 AM - 12:30 PM EST, Monday - Friday. Native English speaker or fluent (reading, writing, speaking) at a business level. Comfortable using Google Suite platforms (Gmail, Google Docs, Slides, Spreadsheets) Comfortable using Zoom Comfortable with multitasking and jumping back and forth between multiple platforms. Passionate about the environment, regenerative agriculture, or food sustainability. Not required but bonus points if you have experience: Working with Basecamp, Slack, or similar project management software With social media platforms - Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and Patreon Social media management - Mailchimp, Hootsuite Knowledge of foreign languages Experience with grant writing, fundraising, or other nonprofit management skills Canva, Photoshop, Illustrator, WordPress With HTML, and a basic knowledge of the web stack Could be an OPT visa individual, and someone with a background studying from an International School.
