Mission Statement

Young Lions is a culturally sensitive mentoring program designed to help young boys experience and work through the rites of passage toward becoming a man. The group addresses spiritual, emotional, and social needs. The Young Lions also deal with issues such as personal hygiene, work habits, self-concept, self-esteem, academic education and knowledge of personal cultural heritage. The purpose of the curriculum is to involve boys in positive interaction with qualified men, in preparation for adolescence and adulthood.

Description

The young Lions Mentoring Program addresses the experience of boys from the holistic perspective of faith-based service. The Young Lions curriculum explores and aaffirms the innate spirituality and moralfiber of African-American culture. It provides positive experiences and dialogue about
African-American culture, heritage and traditions.
