AccentCare Hospice & Palliative Care provides bereavement services to our families for 12 months after the death of their loved ones. Part of the bereavement services volunteers can help with are check-in calls, done at 1-month, 6-months, and 12-months after the death of a patient. Volunteer bereavement callers are given only low-risk families to call at 6-months and 12-months. Volunteers do the calls at their own pace throughout the month based on their schedule. Our Bereavement Specialist and Volunteer Department are there to guide volunteers every step of the way. In addition to required volunteer training and screening, a desire and commitment to help, with a willingness to listen and document the calls is all that is required. These calls can be made from home (or from our office in Columbia). * Volunteers must have a windows based computer with Microsoft Teams to document calls.
