To provide competent, trained volunteer advocates for abused, neglected and children in need of services who are under the jurisdiction of the Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court 15th Judicial District - Virginia.
Description
CASA volunteers are Court Appointed Special Advocates for children - trained comunity voluneers appointed by a judge to speak up for abused and neglected children. CASA is a national organization created by a juvenile court judge. There are CASA programs throughout Virginia and in all 50 states. Rappahannock CASA was established in 1989 and has served over 2,400 abused, neglected and abandoned children in Spotsylvania, King George, Stafford and Fredericksburg.

The Rappahannock Area Court Appointed Special Advocate program is one of the best volunteer opportunities for people who want to make an actual difference in someone's life. You are a hands on advocate for children who are involved in cases of suspected child abuse and neglect. You serve as an extra set of eyes and ears for the judge on the case and most importantly, you serve as a voice for the child in court. The Rappahannock Area Court Appointed Special Advocate program provides extensive initial training as well as on going in-service training for all volunteers. The volunteer coordinators/case managers provide excellent guidance and direction as necessary on all cases assigned.
