Mission Statement

To assist low-income taxpayers with filing their tax return for free.

Description

Community Tax Aid, Inc. (CTA) is a non-profit, tax-exempt, all-volunteer organization that provides free tax service to low-income taxpayers in New York City. We train all volunteers to be aware of the many special tax problems unique to low-income individuals, and the free training qualifies for CPE credit for CPAs.

I really like using my skills to help those who find income tax scary and would not file for money they deserve if they could not find a free tax preparation service. I have also learned a great deal over the last 10 years. When I started all I knew was what I needed for my own tax return, and not even all of that. Now I can help others with all kinds of situations.
