Do you sing? Music is one of the deepest experiences a human can have. Often, patients who do not verbally communicate will sing along or begin to communicate after hearing a song that was once familiar to them. We are looking for Musical Volunteers to use music to help break tension among families, to help patients relax, to improve comfort, to elevate mood, and to reach non-verbal patients. Music can tap into memories and emotions, and help families connect.If you love to sing, play an instrument, or just enjoy listening to music together with hospice patients, then you will enhance the quality of life for a hospice patient immensely. If you are studying to be a music therapist, this is a great way to get experience, but you don't have to be clinically trained. A love of music is the primary requirement! Ohio Living Hospice honors U.S. Military Veterans that are on our hospice with recognition and support. Our wish is to further honor the Veterans that Ohio Living Hospice serves by providing volunteers who have a special understanding of their unique background as a military veteran. Ohio Living Hospice participates in the We Honor Veterans program ( http://www.wehonorveterans.org/), a collaboration with the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization and the Veterans Administration.
