Mission Statement

Lucky Dog Animal Rescue is a non-profit organization dedicated to rescuing homeless and abandoned animals, primarily dogs from high-kill shelters and owners who can no longer care for them. By working with committed volunteers, foster homes, local veterinarians, trainers, and boarding facilities, we are able to rescue hundreds of animals every year, provide them with loving temporary care, and find them well-matched, carefully screened forever homes. We also serve as a resource to our community and all pet owners by providing education and information on responsible pet ownership, including the importance of spay/neuter, positive behavior training, and good nutrition.

Description

About Us

Lucky Dog Animal Rescue is an all-volunteer, non-profit animal rescue organization dedicated to saving the lives of homeless animals and educating the community on responsible pet ownership. Lucky Dog does not have its own facility. Instead, our dogs stay with temporary fosters (and occasionally boarding partners) while they wait to find their forever home. We hold adoption events each week where you can see the Lucky Dogs strut their stuff, and we also arrange private meetings for adopters who fall in love with a pup's internet photo. Our volunteers are more than just volunteers, and our dogs are more than just dogs. We are a family. And we welcome you to become a part!

I love animals and I want to spread the word so that more people help with this organization. And I would love to know that I can help animals get the homes they deserve. If I tell even one friend that is increasing the chances that either an animal will find it's home. Or a animal will get the help it needs.

Because we could help lots of worthy dogs find a new family and get a second chance at a great life!

It was a good volunteer opportunity. Definitely bring a friend, so that you can pair up to handle a dog. Maybe two friends, so trading places is possible when one gets tired. It is a looong volunteer, and it is more than just walking the dog. It is making sure no disputes happen with other dogs, ensuring that the dogs retain their friendly composure (they get stress too), and to take note of any characteristic the dog may have. The one I handled apparently does not like young children and middle-aged people, preferring teens and the elderly. It is also very important to take the smell into consideration. Dogs and puppies do have a distinct smell, and the location is usually near or in front of a pet store.

I volunteered to help out at an adoption event and had a great time. The coordinators gave a brief overview of how we should handle the dogs and interacting with possible adopters, then we were each assigned a dog to walk around with for the event and a packet of information about the dog. I would definitely do it again, I loved getting to know my dog and introducing him to people.

My daughter loves dogs and she wanted to volunteer with a shelter, we found this opportunity and it was fabulous, very well run, and managed. We had a LOT of dogs at today's event that needed homes and they had a good amount of success. We had the sweetest little doggy and she got placed! We are going to do this again for sure.

I inquired on June 28 about a volunteer event on July 28. I got the confirmation email stating the referral was made, but never heard from the organization.
