Refugee Youth Services Volunteer

Flexible Schedule | Salt Lake City, UT 84116

Youth Services Volunteers will assist CCS' Youth Services team with their efforts to teach newcomer youth and their families how to get to and from school, as well as accompanying them on their first day and helping them find the office. This includes teaching youth and their parents how to use public transportation, or if their school is within walking distance, how to walk to and from school and home. Training will be provided.

Refugee Health Promotion Volunteer

Health Promotion Volunteers will assist CCS staff in teaching clients how to navigate the United States Healthcare System. This includes going through a curriculum with clients that covers the different levels of care available to them, how to navigate American pharmacies, and what mental health care is available to them. They will also help clients learn how to travel to and from medical appointments using public transportation and assist in planning educational events targeting specific health needs for clients of CCS.

Refugee Family Mentors reinforce the work of CCS staff by supporting clients in their cultural adjustment to the United States during their first two years of resettlement. CCS provides Family Mentors with tasks to work on with client families as they work towards self-sufficiency.
