Mission Statement
Create and support one-to-one mentoring relationships that ignite the power and promise of youth.
Description
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Texas exists to help children succeed in life. We do this by matching children ages 6 to 16 with caring adults who serve as mentors, advocates, resources, and guides. Volunteers commit to meeting with their Littles 3 to 4 times per month for a minimum of one year. Our professional staff are there every step of the way to solve problems and support each match’s success.
BBBS serves approximately 1,000 children in Travis, Williamson and Hays counties each year. Our proven model of one-to-one mentoring helps kids build the skills and capacities that lead to lifelong success.
Our Impact:
BBBS has served children in Central Texas for more than 46 years. Many have the odds stacked against them, but with the help of their mentor, they are taking steps to a brighter future.
Children thrive with a mentor in their life. Research shows that youth in the Big Brothers Big Sisters program have more confidence, earn better grades and demonstrate better social skills than their peers. They are also less likely to use drugs or alcohol, skip school, become parents at an early age or exhibit violent behavior.
