Mission Statement
We provide Refurbished Computer Systems to Nonprofits We accept new and used computer equipment and donate the refurbished systems to nonprofits. We help bridge the digital divide by providing FREE computer systems to schools and nonprofit organizations that cannot afford to buy new equipment. We extend the useful life of computers that are no longer wanted by individuals and businesses through REUSE rather than recycling them for scrap materials.
Description
In 1993, several General Electric employees realized the great potential of computer reuse through refurbishment, at a time when cutting edge computers began to replace older computers. Thus was born our organization, a branch of the General Electric Elfun volunteer organization. As we grew, we became a Federally recognized 501(c)(3) New York based nonprofit corporation. We have a rich history of support by GE retirees and employees, with a over 1000 years of combined GE service. As we continued to grow, we began to include other like minded retirees outside of GE. Our volunteers currently donate over 8000 volunteer hours annually.
We have donated over 17000 computer systems plus associated computer equipment to over 1500 organizations in the past 32 years.
