Mission Statement
We aim to preserve Emily's Legacy by empowering young women and women veterans, particularly Black and Latina women, to become higher versions of themselves.
Description
The Emily J.T. Perez Foundation was established to honor the legacy of 2nd Lieutenant Emily J.T. Perez, a West Point graduate, Division 1 track athlete, and Army officer who made the ultimate sacrifice on September 12, 2006, while delivering critical medical supplies in Iraq.
Emily's life was defined by leadership, resilience, and selfless service, and our foundation is committed to carrying forward those values. To carry on Emily's legacy of service, excellence and uplifting women, four of her fellow West Point graduates lead and operate the Foundation and its programs under the title "Emily’s Way". Emily’s Way features a Summer Camp for 7th & 8th grade girls and national Resilience Bootcamps for women veterans. These programs build confidence and life skills through building community and transformative experiences. The summer camp is led by an all woman staff to include West Point cadets who inspire, challenge, and equip campers. While the Resilience bootcamps are led by former West Point graduates and Army officers who all served in either Iraq of Afghanistan.
The Foundations Vision is a Future Without Glass Ceilings.
