Mission Statement
EducationEquity Foundation academically leverages the grit of low-income underrepresented premeds by providing them free online MCAT Prep, personally taught and/or guided by experienced professional tutors.
Description
The driving concept behind EducationEquity Foundation (EEF) emerged from the fires of teaching Biology to underserved low-income "minorities" in NYC public high schools over 2004-2006. So much else was going on in those classrooms, where the rubber - our society's social/racial/economic ills - hit the road. (Dan Jetter, the Founder/Director of EEF, was the frustrated Biology teacher.)
Dan left classroom teaching, resolving to help out students such as those he felt he had failed in his NYC high school debacle, resolving that he could help them successfully if/when they went to college.
Accordingly, Dan started unofficially developing EEF, tutoring high school & college STEM, including MCAT Prep.
Over the next 17 years, he honed his tutoring skills.
For Princeton Review, he also trained as an MCAT tutor (subjects = Chemistry & Physics), even taking the MCAT himself so that he'd be a better MCAT Prep tutor.
For Blueprint MCAT Prep, he worked for a year as a content expert (subjects = MCAT Chemistry & MCAT Physics).
The pandemic then made it clear that diversification of HealthCare is a Public Health issue, as well as a Social Equity issue.
In 2023, EEF was officially founded.
EEF has since provided over 760 student contact hours of 1-to-1 tutoring, helping many L-I UR premeds academically qualify for medical school.
The help that EEF needs from a volunteer is in fundraising, particularly connecting with philanthropies.
