Mission Statement
THE HEAR SCHOLARSHIP FOUNDATION IS A NATIONALLY RECOGNIZED COLLEGE SUCCESS PROGRAM THAT INSPIRES, ENCOURAGES, AND SUPPORTS LOW-INCOME COLLEGE BOUND STUDENTS FROM THE GREATER CHICAGOLAND AREA WITH WRAPAROUND SUPPORT SERVICES AND FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE.
Description
The HEAR Scholarship Foundation is dedicated to helping talented, low-income students in Chicagoland overcome financial barriers and succeed in college. Founded in 2009, HEAR provides renewable scholarships of $20,000, committed over four years, and has allocated more than $4.5 million in scholarship funds to date. To-date, over 230 students have enrolled in its program.
HEAR’s College Success Program goes beyond financial support, offering students access to personal mentors, career and college preparedness workshops, and valuable partnerships with local organizations that provide paid internships. These resources equip students with academic and professional skills, preparing them for successful futures.
Approximately 70% of HEAR scholars are first-generation college students, and almost 90% identify as ethnically diverse. HEAR scholars come from over 80 high schools across Chicagoland and have attended 88 colleges nationwide, boasting an impressive 98% college graduation rate. By supporting HEAR, donors are investing in the next generation of leaders, empowering students to reach their full potential and make a lasting impact in their communities.
