Mission Statement

"Our Mission is to plan, develop and provide services that enhance the quality of life and facilitate empowerment of the constituents of the Southeast Bronx."

Description

The Southeast Bronx Neighborhood Centers, Inc. (SEBNC) is a nonprofit serving Bronx’s Community District 3, including Bathgate, Claremont, Crotona Park East, Melrose, Morrisania, and Woodstock. Since 1945, SEBNC has empowered residents, especially in Morrisania, through services that improve the quality of life for children and families.

As one of NYC's oldest African American-led organizations, SEBNC’s "families first" philosophy believes that stronger families create more secure, confident children. We work closely with families to assess needs and connect them to growth and development resources.

SEBNC offers:

- Early Childhood Education: Quality child care for 500 children, birth to age 4, at three Bronx locations, including family support services.
- Developmental Disabilities Services: Respite, residential, and day services for children and adults with developmental disabilities, promoting adaptive behavior and community participation.
- Youth Programs: Afterschool activities, career training, reading enrichment, sports, summer employment, and more for youth ages 5-21.
- Night Center: Free year-round fitness and social activities for children and adults.
- Summer Camp: Over 20 years of free and low-cost summer camps for children 5-13.
- Employment and Training Services* Job readiness, internships, and life skills training for youth 14-24, including ESL and vocational support.
