Unity Preparatory Charter School of Brooklyn (Unity) is a small but mighty public charter school located in Brooklyn, NY. We serve students in grades 6-12 via a unique combination of a college preparatory liberal arts & sciences curriculum and a diverse array of extracurricular activities and clubs that take place during an extended school day, week, and year.
As a stand-alone school, Unity’s core purpose is to provide every student with an exceptional education that empowers them to lead fulfilling academic, personal, and professional lives. A Unity education is personalized, inclusive, well-rounded, and focused on each student’s long-term growth. Our goal is for each and every one of our graduates to leave Unity with the skills, knowledge, experiences, and disposition necessary to succeed in their postsecondary endeavors, lead fulfilling lives, and positively impact their communities.
Despite the fact that 80% of our students qualify for free- or reduced-price lunch and the average student enters Unity’s sixth grade two years behind grade-level numeracy and literacy benchmarks, more than a quarter of Unity students earn Advanced Placement (AP) credit in our high school (versus 21.6% nationwide), 92% of our five cohorts have graduated on time, and 94% apply to a postsecondary program.
