Overview of Volunteer Opportunities New York City Ballet is now accepting applications for our Volunteer Services Program. Volunteers play a vital role in the ongoing operation and success of the organization. Volunteers serve on several important committees and assist various departments throughout the year with special events and projects as needed. Special events may include but are not limited to: Student Matinee Performances, Family Saturday Performances, NYCB Art Series, and Backstage Tours. Based on assigned committee(s) and organizational needs, volunteers are provided a schedule of performances, rehearsals, and events and are asked to sign up for shifts as their availability permits. Travelers Patron Lounge Committee - The Travelers Patron Lounge is a dedicated space in the David H. Koch Theater where donors can relax during performance intermissions, and beverage and light snack service is provided. Volunteers act as greeters for the lounge space. Matinee, evening and weekend availability is required. Information Committee - Acting as a Guest Ambassador for New York City Ballet, Information Volunteers assist guests with information for performances, general wayfinding, and answer questions regarding our patron/donor programs. Information Volunteers should have general knowledge of the history and repertoire of the New York City Ballet and the layout of the David H. Koch Theater. Matinee, evening and weekend availability is required. Nutcracker Performance Committee - The Nutcracker Performance Committee is comprised of both Patron Lounge and Information Committee members. Volunteers who serve on those committees are automatically assigned to the Nutcracker Performance Committee for the holiday season. Based on business needs, all volunteers may be responsible for greeting Patron Lounge guests, distributing "Sweet Seat" items to patrons, and assisting guests with general wayfinding in the theater. Matinee, evening and weekend availability is required. Rehearsal Committee - Volunteers greet guests attending working and special rehearsals during the performance seasons. Volunteers manage seating during the rehearsal and provide information about the repertoire of the rehearsal. Weekday afternoon availability is required. Rose Building Committee - Volunteers greet visitors and assist staff and dancers at Rose Building studios. Daytime availability during the week and on weekends is required. Requirements Dedicated to the mission and values of New York City Ballet Must have a friendly and professional demeanor Must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills Enthusiasm for performing arts Must be able to volunteer a minimum of 3-4 shifts per month Must attend a new volunteer orientation *Volunteers who work during a performance may receive complimentary seating, but seating is not always guaranteed. Volunteers do not receive complimentary seating during the Nutcracker Performance season.
