Mission Statement

Third Church is committed to meeting the immediate needs of neighbors in the Rochester community experiencing hunger or food insecurity. We provide hot meals through our Dining Room Ministry, groceries through our Food Cupboard, and special holiday packages through our Christmas Baskets program. We support Bread for the World, a non-partisan organization working to end global hunger. And our annual 5K race, the East Avenue Grocery Run, raises awareness and money for 25 local hunger programs and contributes 1,500 pounds of canned goods for Foodlink each year. We work to shelter those who are homeless through three ongoing efforts. As part of the Rochester Area Interfaith Hospitality Network, we share in a ministry that houses homeless families in church buildings. We are involved in the Habitat for Humanity building program in Rochester’s JOSANA neighborhood. We also send intergenerational teams to aid in the ongoing recovery from natural disasters around the country.

Description

You are welcome here, no matter your faith experience, sexual orientation, personal background, or human condition. We are an open and accepting faith community, a member congregation of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.), and a voice of progressive leadership on today’s religious, social, and moral issues. Passionately committed to the social gospel of Jesus Christ, we build community by helping each other and helping the world.
We are a Matthew 25 Church, a Certified Hunger Action Congregation, and a participant in the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) Commitment to Peacemaking.
