As a volunteer at the Empowerment Dream Center, you will play a critical role in supporting our mission to help asylum seekers and residents transition to life in the United States. Volunteers assist in various capacities, from teaching and mentorship to meal preparation and administrative support. Your contribution helps foster a supportive, empowering environment where residents can rebuild their lives and pursue their dreams. Volunteer Opportunities ESL Tutoring: Help residents improve their English skills, whether through one-on-one or group tutoring sessions. Workshop Facilitation: Lead workshops in areas like financial literacy, personal development, and workforce readiness. Case Management Assistance: Support case managers by organizing files, scheduling appointments, and researching resources. Administrative Tasks: Assist with office duties, including data entry, filing, and correspondence. Mentoring: Provide guidance and encouragement to residents, helping them navigate career, education, and personal development. Meal Preparation: Help prepare and serve meals to residents during designated times. Event Planning and Support: Assist with organizing events, such as workshops, holiday celebrations, or outreach efforts. Fundraising and Grant Writing: Contribute to the center’s sustainability by assisting with fundraising initiatives or writing grant proposals. Community Engagement: Help raise awareness about the center through outreach activities and by building connections with local businesses and organizations. Maintenance and Cleaning: Keep the center’s facilities clean and organized to create a welcoming environment for all. Fitness and Wellness Programs: Lead or participate in fitness and wellness activities to promote a healthy lifestyle for residents. Desired Qualifications: Compassion, patience, and a desire to help others Willingness to work with individuals from diverse backgrounds Strong communication and interpersonal skills Flexibility and a positive attitude Dependability and a commitment to the mission of the Empowerment Dream Center Training and Support: All volunteers will receive an orientation and training specific to their role. Ongoing support and supervision will be provided by the Resource and Volunteer Coordinator, and volunteers are encouraged to ask questions or seek assistance whenever needed. Time Commitment: Volunteers can set their schedules based on their availability. Some roles may require a more regular commitment, while others may offer more flexibility.
