Mission Statement

At Henrietta Lacks House we are dedicated to improving healthcare in underserved communities. Our charity was created to honor my grandmother, Henrietta Lacks. Henrietta is the one and only Mother of Medicine and has the only immortal DNA cell line in the world, known as the HeLa cell line. It is the cell line responsible for every medical treatment created since 1951, including IVF, the AIDs cocktail, and all vaccines. We disseminate health education and community clinical research programs throughout Chicago. Clinical research is critical for gaining insights about the safety and effectiveness of medical treatments, and discovering treatments for cancer, diabetes, heart disease, hypertension, and other illnesses that are preventable. Help us lead the way in funding clinical research and improving healthcare.

Description

Due to Henrietta Lack's distinctiveness as the only person in the world to have an immortal cell line, we believe the most effective way to honor and promote her legacy and impact is through storytelling. We need your help to spread the word about our events, help sell tickets, and volunteer at events. Volunteers can look forward to engaging discussions, impromptu performances, and perhaps even some once-in-a-lifetime collaborations.
