What You'll Be Doing: Website Development: Maintain and update our website (built with React and connected to MongoDB) to keep it current, functional, and visually compelling. Design Mastery: Create intuitive and engaging layouts, ensuring that the user experience is seamless across all devices. Collaborative Projects: Work closely with our leadership, event, and social media teams to implement timely updates, announcements, and interactive features. Code Champion: Fix bugs, enhance performance, and occasionally give the site a complete facelift if needed! GitHub Guru: Manage website changes via GitHub, creating pull requests, reviewing code, and ensuring smooth integration. Who We’re Looking For: Web Development Expertise: You’re fluent in web programming languages such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and experienced in the React framework. Backend Knowledge: Familiarity with MongoDB. Design Sense: A creative eye for design and experience in creating aesthetically pleasing, easy-to-navigate user experiences. Team Player: Comfortable working independently in a remote environment while collaborating with various teams. In this role, you will provide legal advice, manage contracts, and ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations. Key Responsibilities: Legal Advisory & Compliance: Provide legal advice on matters related to nonprofit operations, ensuring compliance with federal and state laws, and regulations governing nonprofit organizations, including tax-exempt status, governance, and fundraising. Contract Management: Draft, review, and negotiate contracts and agreements to support various organizational initiatives, partnerships, and external collaborations. Risk Management & Governance: Assist WDC in identifying legal risks, advising on governance structures, and ensuring legal and ethical integrity in operations. Dispute Resolution: Offer counsel in resolving legal disputes or potential litigations involving WDC’s activities, helping to protect the organization's interests. Legal Research & Updates: Conduct legal research and stay updated on new laws and regulations that could impact WDC’s operations, ensuring the organization remains compliant and up-to-date. Collaboration: Work closely with WDC’s leadership team and various departments to understand their legal needs and provide tailored legal advice that supports the organization’s objectives. Qualifications: Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school. Licensed to practice law in at least one U.S. state, with eligibility to provide legal counsel in the jurisdiction where WDC operates. Minimum of 2 years of experience practicing law, ideally with exposure to nonprofit law, contract law, corporate governance, intellectual property, or related areas. Strong knowledge of federal and state laws governing nonprofit organizations, including governance, tax-exempt status, contracts, employment, and intellectual property. Legal Research & Writing: Strong skills in legal research, writing, and the ability to communicate complex legal issues to non-legal stakeholders. Experience with Nonprofits: Prior experience advising nonprofits on legal matters such as formation, compliance, risk management, and governance. Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills: Exceptional analytical skills with the ability to identify legal risks and provide effective solutions.
