Do you have a passion for design and want to use your creative skills to support a life-saving mission? The World Disaster Center (WDC) is seeking a talented Graphic Designer Volunteer to join our team. You will play a vital role in shaping WDC’s visual identity by developing engaging, impactful designs that support our disaster preparedness, response, and recovery efforts worldwide. Disclaimer: Please be aware that currenlty we are unable to provide letters or assistance for U.S. students seeking to extend their OPT (Optional Practical Training) visa. Key Responsibilities: Design for Publications: Create clear, visually compelling design elements for publications, reports, and presentations, including WDC’s 5-Year Strategic Workplan . Marketing Materials: Develop creative and engaging marketing materials for social media, such as one-pagers, infographics, illustrations, layouts, and presentations, all in line with WDC’s branding guidelines. Event-Based Graphics: Design promotional materials for events, programs, and campaigns to support WDC’s outreach efforts. Collaborate with the Team: Work closely with WDC’s leadership and the communications team to translate messaging concepts into stunning visual content. Project Management: Manage individual projects while collaborating with team members to ensure cohesive and consistent design across all materials. Qualifications: Design Experience: Proven experience in graphic design, either through freelance work, volunteer roles, internships, or formal employment. A degree in Graphic Design or Fine Arts is a plus, but not required. Design Software Proficiency: Strong proficiency in design tools such as Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign) or equivalent software. Aesthetics & Attention to Detail: A keen eye for design, typography, and color, with the ability to create clean, professional visuals that align with WDC’s brand. Self-Starter: Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and manage multiple projects with minimal supervision. Team Player: Comfortable collaborating with a remote team, giving and receiving constructive feedback, and maintaining a positive approach to refining work. Adaptability: Ability to quickly learn and adhere to WDC’s branding guidelines and adjust to new design requirements as they arise. Time Commitment: We request a commitment of at least 2-3 months to ensure a rewarding experience for both you and WDC. This approach allows volunteers the flexibility to reassess their commitment after the initial period, without feeling obligated to continue if their circumstances or desires change.
