Mission Statement

Dedicated to helping mothers with school-age children on the autism spectrum. We equip them with educational, financial, and community resources. We provide children with opportunities to break social barriers through community events. This will help mothers to advocate effectively, while teaching our children about peer awareness and acceptance.

Description

Founded in 2023, Mothers And Autism Meetup has been committed to supporting families with children who have been diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder. Initially established to create a supportive and safe environment for caregivers to share their experience, we have grown to address the diverse needs of target population. MAAM envisioned a supportive environment where focus on educational, and today, that vision continues to guide our work. Stress to Strength- Autism Parenting and Self-Care: Aimed at strength the support of caregiver, this transformative program provides strategies to effective in-home therapy, effective communication, behavioral challenges, understanding IEP's, building a self-care awareness. We have positively impacted 20 families through our programs and services. Through our Colorful Connection Autism Fest were able to connect 98 individuals with resources, while providing a day of fun and celebration. Our goal is to expand our targeted population in the tri-city area of Richmond, create more sensory-friendly activities for the children, as well as building a supportive team that can help support families in different capacity.
