The Young Adult Ministry and Christus Vivit Community of the Sisters of St. Joseph seek to be rooted in accompaniment of young adults as they navigate a changing world, yet desire to keep connected with their faith and a life of service. The community is looking for volunteers to: Cook a meal once or twice a month for Dear Neighbor events and Christus Vivit community Provide needed transportation for special events. Handyman or handywoman to make repairs around the house. Reception and secretarial assistance (Word, Excel etc.) Accounting assistance Donations of household items Support programming

LIIC is a Sisters of St. Joseph congregational ministry. It is a pro se clinic whose mission is to assist Long Island immigrants with their asylum cases, with a vision to expand our services to meet the needs of our local community as they arise. LIIC is a Department of Justice recognized and accredited program, with accredited representatives, a staff attorny and a cadre of volunteer attorneys who provide technical support and assistance to the clinic's staff and volunteers. There are in-person and virtual roles which may be filled. Volunteer to act as an inerpreter and/or assist with the translation of documents. Offer your computer skills for data entry support. Assist with childcare at clinic sessions. Serve as notetakers for intake and documentation forms and/or applications. Be a researcher of country conditions in migrants' home countries to support their asylum applications. Help clients prepare for court appearances or interviews, and link with existing "accompaniment" programs to accompany and support them at their hearings. Volunteers are provided training prior to being placed on a case.

Description
The Sisters of St. Joseph are an order of Catholic religious women founded in 1640. They strive to live their values through a love of God and neighbor, unity forged through respect and appreciation of diversity, reconciliation fostered among all people, actions in response to the needs of the times, and receptiveness to and oneness with creation. The Sisters believe in the power, presence and love of God working through an evolving universe and in God's self-communication through Jesus Christ. They continue to respond to needs, especially in the areas of justice and the environment, and to bring their vision to life through their various ministries and programs.
