The "I Have A Dream" Foundation - Dallas is seeking applicants for a full-time K-12 AmeriCorps position for a August 2024 through August 2025 service term. The AmeriCorps Member will help further our ability to deliver services to the youth in our program ("Dreamer Scholars") and their families. We are seeking self-motivated, compassionate applicants who enjoy working with young people and diverse individuals, including Dreamer Scholars, their families, "I Have A Dream" staff and sponsors, teachers and school administrators, and members of the community. Service Position Summary: Assist the site’s Program Director in planning, organizing, and delivering a year-round program of appropriate activities to support students' academic, socio-emotional needs, and parent partnerships Mentor students on a regular basis. Focus on developing relationships with students, managing an assigned caseload (approximately 15-25 Dreamers). Act as a positive role model and provide personal guidance. Plan and lead group sessions and classes, as part of in school and/or after-school programs, focusing on students’ needs in academics, socio-emotional support and other enrichment activities. Push into core classes during the school day, assisting teachers and students with needs. Tutor students during academic programming, one-on-one or in small groups. Support volunteer tutors, mentors, and other program volunteers. Maintain contact with school staff and community partners. Plan meaningful and fun incentive field trips. Help the site’s Program Director promote parental involvement in "I Have A Dream" and school activities. Organize parent activities, workshops, and discussion groups as needed. Develop college and career awareness and job training activities for students; helping to create meaningful job and internship opportunities. Maintain records related to Program activities such as students' grades, academic records, school attendance, "I Have A Dream" participation, results of one-on-one intervention, and family involvement. Perform clerical functions in the site’s office in support of the program. AmeriCorps member will primarily work/collaborate with: Other AmeriCorps members and "I Have A Dream" staff Elementary through high school students Students’ families & caretakers Business community and organizations Other local nonprofits and community partners Training opportunities: Initial 2-week AmeriCorps Training / Orientation to "I Have A Dream" and NDMVA Bi-Monthly on-site AmeriCorps meetings/workshops Ongoing professional development that could include the following topics: Leadership & Communication Diversity & Cultural Competency Motivational Interviewing Suicide prevention, Abuse Reporting Health, Wellness, Nutrition Literacy, Math, Tutoring, and Academic Programming Techniques Serving low-income, and at-risk youth Lesson planning & Classroom Management Support and Meetings: Each member will receive support from several "I Have A Dream" staff members serving in the organization. This includes: Monthly 1:1 check-ins with Direct Supervisor Weekly Supervisor/Site Team Meetings Bi-annual 1:1 check-ins with AmeriCorps Site Director Bi-monthly AmeriCorps Professional Training days Inclusion in all-staff meetings, including encouraged access to organizational leaders and executives

The purpose of a Community Mentor is to support Dreamer Scholars in developing trusting relationships with adults. Community mentors provide one-on-one and/or small group enrichment activities, with a focus on shared interests. Primary Responsibilities: Community Mentors report to the Mentor Coordinator. Mentors are expected to: ● Meet attendance requirements for a minimum of one academic year ○ Elementary School: one hour per week ○ Middle School: two hours per month ○ High School: one hour per month ● Participate in initial and ongoing training on evidence-based mentoring ● Adhere to the Volunteer Code of Conduct ● Provide feedback about your mentoring experience Qualifications: ● Must be 18+ years old ● Must be employed, retired, or a student ● Must pass all IHDF screening requirements ● Must have established residency for at least 3 months ● Bilingual (English and Spanish) highly recommended but not required ● *If you plan to transport your mentee, additional requirements apply Benefits of Mentoring: Research from the Interagency Working Group on Youth Programs (IWGYP) shows that youth with mentors are more likely to have: ● Healthier relationships ● Enhanced self-esteem and self-confidence ● Improved behavior, at home and at school ● Stronger relationships with parents, teachers, and peers ● Improved interpersonal skills Consider Applying as an Community Mentor if: ● You are passionate about building youth strengths ● You are already a mentor in your community ● You understand the importance of exposure to new experiences ● You are interested in gaining experience in positive youth development ● You have strong interpersonal skills

The "I Have A Dream" Foundation - Dallas seeks an experienced, creative and enthusiastic individual to assist in organizing, coordinating & overseeing long-term support programs for participants in our Dallas Program. This is a full-time position. The Program Coordinator reports to the Chief Growth Officer. The mission of the "I Have A Dream" program is to empower children from low-income communities (Dreamer Scholars) to succeed in school, college, and career by providing academic, social, and emotional support from elementary school through college, along with post-secondary tuition assistance. Responsibilities: 1) Develop meaningful relationships and provide individualized advocacy and support to Dreamer Scholars (and their families) that meets their academic, social-emotional, and life skills needs. 2) Serve as an advocate and partner with parents/caregivers by attending parent/teacher conferences, organizing parent/caregiver meetings, conducting workshops, and organizing events and celebrations. 2) Assist in the development and management and implementation of the in school, after-school, and summer activities aimed at meeting Dreamer Scholars’ academic and social-emotional needs. Assist Program Director with the implementation of academic, wellness and talent building activities in all programs. Disseminate and reinforce key information on programs, policies and expectations for all staff, interns/volunteers, Dreamer Scholars and families. Ensure fidelity to behavior management procedures by all staff. Help facilitate or oversee SEL groups and support Dreamer Scholars in-school classrooms. Serve as Instructor/Group Leader when needed. Delegate minor program responsibilities to staff (set up/clean up, walkie-talkies, office maintenance, set up transitions/choice time areas, etc.) 3) Assist in the recruitment and supervision of volunteers/interns and staff. 4) In coordination with the Program Director, review academic performance, and school attendance of Dreamer Scholars. 5) Order, organize, store and manage materials; manage petty cash. 6) Enter information in an online data management system, provide reports when needed. 7) Collaborate with the program team and community partners to develop and enhance programming for Dreamer Scholars. Assist in the implementation and coordination of partners’ contracts and mutual expectations. 8) Access and attract useful resources from community institutions, local schools, public agencies, and local businesses for the benefit of the "I Have A Dream"(r) Foundation - Dallas. 9) Represent the class/cohort at "I Have A Dream" functions, including donor meetings, site tours, and fundraising events. 10) Participate in staff trainings, retreat, and other required activities. 11) Fulfill other related responsibilities as requested.
