Description
Tutoring and Adventuring
For over eighteen years, we have been serving the families of low rent apartments, motels and trailers. Under the leadership of Sarah Ajero and co-directors, our Homework Club runs each Tuesday and Thursday afternoon, serving up to twenty-five kids through a volunteer team who range in age from 16-82. Families receive a food bag weekly from local churches. In the summer time kids head out with ESYAC for adventures-kayaking, camping, hiking, fishing, gold panning, spelunking, swimming and more.
Children need outdoor play and activities to develop properly. Our goal is to expose them to the history of the area, career possibilities, environmental sciences, and to learn to interact with adults and children.
ESYAC takes our kids on adventures occasionally during the school year, and weekly during the summer and during school vacations. Activities include going on hikes, kayaking, patio boat trips, local museum visits, Shasta Caverns, Lake Redding Park, Bella Vista Farms, Lassen Park, sledding and camping, ice skating and many other fun outings.
One of our goals is to provide a training ground for volunteers from all churches and backgrounds where we support one another in discovering and developing our unique gifts through which we share the transforming love of God in Christ.
