We are in need of compassionate volunteers to provide caregiver relief visits to support the families of our patients. Being a hospice volunteer is simple, yet profoundly rewarding. There is no medical or personal care involved - just caring from the heart!! Caregiver relief visits are based on your availability. This volunteer opportunity allows a patient's caregiver to go to a doctor appointment or run necessary errands so they can continue to take care of themselves while also caring for their loved one. Caregiver relief visits are 1-3 hours and include sitting with the patient to provide a supportive presence, so the patient is not alone while their family member is out of the house. Our hospice organization is in need of volunteers with wonderful knitting and crocheting skills for our We Honor Veterans program, Nightingale program, and our Centennial Birthday programs Volunteer knitters and crocheters create lap blankets and shawls for our hospice patients that we celebrate and honor at these events. The lap blankets are presented to our Veteran patients during Veteran ceremonies, which provides the opportunity to thank them for their service. Our patients and families love receiving these hand-made gifts and recognize the love and time that goes into them. You will be creating a touching memento for our patients and their family members that they can cherish for a lifetime. We provide all of the supplies necessary to make these lap blankets and shawls. Knitters and crocheters can select the pattern of their choice. This is a remote position and can be done from your home. We will work with your schedule. Would you like to be part of the Circle of Care program that our hospice organization provides to our patients and their loved ones? We are in need of volunteers that can make Circle of Care calls from home or from our office in San Antonio. These are check-in phone calls with our patients who are being cared for by their loved ones at home. You'll be calling to see if they have needs such as medication and or supplies that must be addressed before each weekend by the hospice team.
