Are you passionate about music, education, or helping the community? If so, you’ll love volunteering with Musicopia and our Gift of Music program ! Musicopia’s mission is to provide equitable access to music education and enrichment, encouraging self-confidence, global awareness, dedication and joy in Pre-K to 12th grade students and their communities. We are a recognized leader in rebuilding and revitalizing school music programs that help students in all stages of their musical education journey, starting with providing instruments. Musicopia’s Gift of Music instrument donation program collects, repairs and places donated musical instruments with those students who need them the most. In this program, volunteers play a crucial role in helping us collect donated instruments from several partnering drop-off sites . We’re looking for reliable volunteers who are licensed drivers with access to a vehicle. The time commitment is flexible; volunteers can help out as much or as little as they choose. Tasks could include: Transporting donated instruments from drop-off locations to the storage unit and repair vendors Assist with processing donated instruments and organizing instrument storage Onsite assistance at instrument giveaway days Hosting an instrument collection drive at a school, office, or community organization To date, the Gift of Music program has placed over 7,000 donated instruments, which would not have been possible without the support of amazing volunteers! Are you passionate about music, dance, education, or helping the community? If so, you'll find volunteering with us at our fundraising events and student performances incredibly fulfilling! As an events volunteer, you’ll play a vital role in creating welcoming atmospheres and ensuring events run smoothly, directly supporting Musicopia ’s mission to provide equitable access to music education and enrichment, encouraging self-confidence, global awareness, dedication and joy in Pre-K to 12th grade students and their communities. Volunteers may also work with Musicopia’s partner organization, Dancing Classrooms Philly (DCP). DCP’s mission is to foster self-esteem, social awareness, mutual respect, teamwork and joy in young people and their communities through social dance education and performance. Together, Musicopia and DCP work with students through in-school music/ dance education, afterschool string orchestra and drumline programs, a Saturday dance academy, and an instrument donation program. We also host more than 50 internal and community-based events each year to showcase our students’ talents, enrich communities through the power of the arts, and raise money to supplement the cost of our programs. Volunteers can participate in various activities depending on their experience level. No special qualifications are required - just a friendly demeanor, attention to detail, and reliability. The time commitment is flexible, based on event schedules, and volunteers will receive advance notice of event dates and times. Tasks could include: Onsite setup and breakdown Taking pictures and videos Guest check-in Technical and audio/visual assistance Help of any kind supports our mission and work! With a small administrative staff and big goals, our volunteers’ efforts amplify our impact and never go unnoticed. We couldn’t do what we do without the support of amazing volunteers!
