Mission Statement
The National African American Male Wellness Initiative was established in 2004 to begin the process of empowering men to understand through prevention one can live longer. The awareness campaign is the largest Wellness Initiative of its kind in Central Ohio and has expanded to over 15 markets nationally including Los Angeles, Houston, Memphis, Atlanta, and Cleveland. The Wellness Initiative has provided tens of thousands of Black men free health screenings across the country, resulting in recognition from President Obama and the month of August being declared as African American Male Wellness Month in Ohio.
Description
We are looking for 50-100 volunteers to engage in outreach and create awareness for the Philadelphia Wellness Walk each weekend between now and the event (June 12, 2024). Outreach will take place generally on weekends (weather permitting) in the late mornings/early afternoons. We will pass out flyers, engage with the community face-to-face, and spread word of mouth awareness for the event and organization. To volunteer, please reach out to Dymiere Finch: 215-253-6358 or Randale Patterson: 267-262-6885.
