Mission Statement
SOLACE's mission is to educate women on Severe Obstetric Lacerations, also known as Obstetric Anal Sphincter Injuries (OASIs) in hopes of prevention, and to support those who suffer from these injuries.
Description
SOLACE started by a group of women who suffered from severe obstetric lacerations, led by Caroline Stadler, in April of 2023. What they all shared was their lack of knowledge about these birth injuries as highly educated individuals, which led to very deep physical and physiological trauma which affected them and their families immensely. They saw the need to inform and break the information isolation which leaves many women in the dark about the short and long term outcomes of these lacerations. While SOLACE is expanding their education and awareness programs in hopes of raising awareness, these injuries unfortunately still happen at an increasing rate in the United States. Another goal that SOLACE pursues is to support women as they go through their recovery journey of these injuries.
