Mission Statement
Our goal is to use comedy to support local nonprofits and national nonprofit affiliates, with proceeds and publicity directed towards assisting them to fulfill their missions while building a community around the convergence of comedy and civic engagement. We aim to accomplish this in the following ways: Producing a podcast that serves to educate our audience on important issues through comedic engagement, while also serving as a way for our nonprofit partners to expand their audience. Educating our audience on important issues and the local actors working to address them (through our shows and digital content). Connecting our local partners with potential advocates, allies, and volunteers. Building relationships between local organizations working across the nonprofit sector. Hosting stand-up comedy fundraisers benefiting a local nonprofit partner each month.
Description
Grassroots Comedy is a 501(c)(3) that sits at the crossroads of comedy and advocacy. Simply put, we are a collective of comedians and social justice advocates passionate about improving humanity through laughter. Our goal is to use comedy as a platform to support the work of grassroots organizations working on important causes, raise public awareness and engagement on humanitarian concerns, and amplify the voices of communities fighting for social justice. We leverage the art form of comedy to provide a forum for education, engagement, networking, and relationship-building to make the world a better (and funnier) place.
