Mission Statement
The Kiwanis Club of Washington, DC is a group of dedicated volunteers who come together to impact the lives of children and youth in the District of Columbia. Through hands-on service, advocacy, and actionable programs, we confront systemic inequalities and provide the support children need to be nurtured and flourish. We regularly partner with mission-aligned organizations supporting underrepresented communities. Together, our passionate members and partners build projects that support mental health, housing, nutrition, hunger, and education challenges. We’re always learning, listening, and exploring ways to help children and youth in the District of Columbia.
Description
In 2023, our Club continued its impact through ongoing community service projects, financial donations to organizations that align with our mission, and scholarships to high school seniors to help with the increasing costs of education. A few of those highlights included:
$100,000 to our large-scale service partner for mental health services
$75,000 in scholarships award
$2,500 donated to street outreach and medical care for the unhoused
4,414 children impacted by our direct efforts
238 bags of donated clothing sorted for the unhoused
2,500 youth soccer players supported during their spring tournament
100 cards written for seniors
$2,000 donated for music education and instruments
250 backpacks and books donated to DCPS
745 community service hours served
