(Min 1 year Commitment) Board secretaries have a variety of duties and responsibilities including: Schedules board meetings Assists in board member orientation Takes attendance at board meetings Takes accurate meeting minutes and getting them approved Attend Meeting with Board President to create Agendas Attend Monthly Meeting (In person or Virtual) About Us: The Joseph Gabriel Foundation is a 501c3 non-profit organization that is dedicated to providing support to at-risk youth who have experienced trauma and need help to reintegrate into their communities. These young people have experienced challenging circumstances or factors during their childhood that can make it difficult for them to achieve academic success, mature socially, and contribute to their community and the workforce. By joining our team, you will be part of a group of experienced professionals, including retired police officers, social workers, educators, administrators, and board members, who are passionate about empowering at-risk youth in underrepresented communities. We believe that it takes a village to raise a child, and we need your help to make a difference. We are currently seeking individuals who can serve as our treasurer, secretary, or grant writer. Your contribution to our team will help us provide more effective support to at-risk youth, enabling them to overcome challenges and achieve success. JGF is seeking In person Volunteer Mentors for our School Year Mentoring Program.JGF offers practical skills and mentorships to young who are at risk. Mentees will participate in various virtual experiences including one-on-one conversations with experienced mentors and learn how to handle life challenges and conflicts providing career exploration,life skills, social emotional support and empowerment. JGF Mentoring Program is designed to assist young people and their families who have been negatively impacted by gang violence and mental health challenges, particularly those who come from historically marginalized and underserved communities. JGF Advocates prevent and intervene with at-risk youth who are most in need of support.The objective is to connect at-risk youth individuals and their caregivers with resources, mentoring, mental health training/services, and screening during the Spring and Summer months at areas where youth gather (beach, parks, music festivals, family BBQs, and local events.) The JGF outreach team responds to shootings, sexual assaults, domestic violence, mental health crises, and other youth-related violent incidents to help detect conflicts and resolve them peacefully before they lead to additional violence by connecting them to support...
