Mission Statement
OUR MISSION The Jamaican American Community Organization (JACO) strives to promote opportunities for advancement to and empowerment for Jamaicans and people of Jamaican American descent through access to financial resources and education with an emphasis on technology, community, history, culture, sports, and the Our goal is to inspire, motivate and unify Jamaicans for socio-economic sustainability and promotion of Jamaican Heritage. OUR VISION The Jamaican American Community Organization (JACO) aspires to make an impact through collaboration with companies, institutions and other organizations with vested or potential interest in Jamaica to access sustainable resources: in technological advancement; through preserving Jamaican heritage and culture, in particular for the present and future generations; and, through an organizational culture that embraces progressive strategies, innovation, diversity, radical inclusion, and exchange with other communities and cultures.
Description
The Jamaican American Community Organization (JACO) is a volunteer based 501(c)(3) nonprofit formed through civic leaders with over 40 years of experience fostering financial literacy programs, promoting Jamaican culture, organizing outdoor community activities, and engaging in after-school tutoring to support families, students, migrants, and youth.
By volunteering at our annual July 4th Family Day in Joaquin Miller Park in Oakland, California, you are supporting our largest community event that has been free to the public for over 20 years!
