Affinity Care Hospice Volunteers can help patients, families, and our organization in a variety of ways. No prior experience is required, and we will provide you with all the training and support you will need to thrive as a hospice volunteer. Patient Care Volunteers are part of a patient’s care team. They make visits to facilities & residential homes to offer companionship and emotional support to patients and relief to tired caregivers. Volunteers read to patients, assist with a favorite hobby, listen to music, sit bedside to comfort, or can engage patients and families in-person with our virtual reality headsets. Organizational Volunteers provide aid and support to the hospice office and staff. There are many ways to volunteer that don’t include direct patient care. Affinity Care is seeking in-person (Brick, NJ) administrative volunteers to help with mailings, data entry, photocopying and making check-in calls. There truly is something that everyone can do. Veteran Volunteers have the unique ability to relate and connect with other Veterans, which is why they are vital to ensuring our veteran patients get the extra attention they deserve. Veteran volunteers provide companionship (conversation/sharing stories, playing games, etc.), caregiver relief (to give direct caregivers a break), compassionate listening, and participation. Music Volunteers & Music Therapy Volunteers are musicians, singers, music students and band members, as well as board-certified music therapists. These volunteers use music to entertain, uplift, or calm and soothe the patient’s spirit. Music Volunteers allow patients and families an opportunity to relax and reminisce through music. Pet Therapy Volunteers bring comfort and smiles to patients and their families. A visit from a certified therapy animal can bring an immense amount of joy, emotional support, and fulfillment to a hospice patient and their family members. Pet therapy has been proven to decrease pain and stress. Pets must be certified and up to date on all vaccinations. We are also actively seeking End-of-Life Doulas , Massage Therapists & Energy Healers . If you are compassionate, sympathetic, friendly, and open to new perspectives - please reach out via email to Affinity Care Hospice of NJ, we would love to hear from you!
