Vigil Volunteers needed!

The Vigil Volunteer offers companionship, comfort and presence to patients prior to death. Support can be provided to patients who have no family to be with them or to provide support or guidance to families and caregivers and helping to relieve the unknown, this may include staff if the patient resides at a facility. Support is provided in a variety of ways, including being a calm presence, talking and listening to the family/caregivers, or sharing silence, playing music, or singing songs.

Pet Therapy Volunteers needed!

The pet therapy volunteer serves as an additional support to patients, families and caregivers by making friendly visits with his/her certified therapy animal. Visits may occur in patients home or in a professional care setting (subject to rules of the facility). Both the volunteer and the certified therapy animal provide comfort, companionship and a welcome distraction from illness. All care provided by the Pet Therapy Volunteer is outlined in the volunteer care plan and agreed upon by the Interdisiplinary Group. PET: The majority of animals serving in this capacity will be a dog. The dog must be certified/ registered by the American Kennel Club recognized therapy dog organization. All required vaccinations must be up to date, required vaccines include Rabies and Distemper. A copy of current certification/ registration in addition to liability insurance coverage must be maintained as well.

Are you a veteran looking to make a difference in the lives of your fellow veterans? Join us as a volunteer to help others. We believe no one understands the journey better then those who have walked it themselves. ROLE: Provide respite visits (no hands on care required!) to family of veteran. Provide companionship and emotional support to hospice patient while family runs an errand, schedules an appointment, or takes a brief break. Provide companionship and socialization visits to our veterans living in long term care facilities. Assist in organizing events that foster community among veterans. Participate in our annual memorial service, held in October. LOCATION: ONSLOW AND CARTERET COUNTY. TIME COMMITMENT: FLEXIBLE! Any time donated is appreciated. We are accomodating to your schedule!

Volunteers sit with patients so families can leave home to run errands or go to an appointment. 18+ Volunteers needed to help with administrative support in office, 16+ performing tuck-in-calls, (calls to patients and families to assure they have the necessary supplies, medications, and support they need). Assisting volunteer coordinator with administrative duties.
