Mission Statement

In a world where the health concerns of Black and Brown people are ignored, and where medical care is a luxury, self-care is also necessary to survival. That’s why we, the Center for Wellbeing & Happiness, provide the Lower East Side with free programs focused on physical, spiritual, emotional, social, economic, environmental, and educational wellness.

Description

The Lower Eastside Girls Club has been "Opening Doors, Empowering Women, and Building Community Girl by Girl" since 1996. The Lower Eastside Girls Club amplifies the inner power of young women and gender-expansive youth in New York City through our free, year-round innovative programs in STEM, Arts, Digital Media and Sound, Wellness, Civic Engagement, and Leadership.
In 2020, The Girls Club expanded our mission with the launch of our Food Pantry and Center for Wellbeing and Happiness (CWBH) with a core belief that the wellbeing of Girls Club members is intimately connected to the wellbeing of her family, her community, and her world. Our Lower Eastside Community Pantry is open once a week, serving more than 2,000+ community members a month.
