The Park Manager is a lead Volunteer position that interacts with public and private organizations, visitors, vendors, volunteers, and Blackland Prairie Raptor Center (BPRC) leadership. The Park Manager has a wide range of responsibilities including operational and customer service interactions. DUTIES AND EXPECTATIONS include but not limited to; Ensure safety protocols are followed and emergency procedures are in place to handle accidents or other risks to visitor safety. Plan and organize activities for children and adults to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience. Greet visitors and ensure excellent customer service. Maintain the park welcome center, pavilion and restrooms facilities. Communicate maintenance and repair needs of facilities in the park. Manage the day-to-day operations of the park including staffing requirements and activities schedules. Manage operations in the Welcome building, including stocking, organizing and gate receipts. Ensure gates and facilities are open in advance for public/private programs and that property is secure after programs.

You must be 18 years old, pass a criminal background check, and have a passion for raptors and our environment. Hours, days, and times to volunteer vary based on YOUR schedule. No experience needed. Volunteer opportunities include: Education & Training: clean avian ambassador enclosures, raptor food preparation, feed avian ambassadors, support the operations to resident mouse house, present at education programs, lead trail walks, and support ambassador training (with previous experience and/or training). Rehabilitation: support the rehabilitation needs of sick, injured, and orphaned birds of prey, including handling and treating patients (with training and approval). Additional responsibilities include laundry, cleaning hospital/clinic surfaces and flooring, washing kennels, and maintaining outdoor flight cages. Park Maintenance: maintain trail system, amphitheater, lake overlook, bridges, and lawn areas. Conservation and Restoration: weed, hand-pulling/digging, herbicide treatments with hand-held and backpack sprayers, and tree and shrub removals to protect and restore The Blackland Prairie Raptor Center’s 66-acre property. Operations and Maintenance: support regular campus maintenance and special building projects.
