Mission Statement
The Justice Education Project is the very first international youth-led and youth-focused criminal justice nonprofit started in the United States. Our mission is to empower Generation Z to advocate against the unjust policies and inequities in the US criminal justice system. We provide resources, activism tools, and opportunities to directly help current and formerly incarcerated people (especially women and children). We aim to break down societal apathy surrounding the incarcerated population by bringing youth proximate to incarcerated people.
Description
Founded in 2019, JEP has been pioneering innovative ways to key Generation Z into criminal justice reform activism. From activism toolkits and publishing our first ever book: First Steps Into Criminal Justice Activism: For Youth to donating 11,000+ menstrual products to incarcerated women, we are dedicated to ensuring that our members can make a tangible change within their communities. Our ultimate goal is for criminal justice reform and activism to become a priority issue among Generation Z, and to take steps to prioritize rehabilitation over retribution. We are currently looking for volunteers in Arizona. Opportunities for leadership and volunteer hours are available. Members are ages 13-26.
