Mission Statement
The New York Guard is one of New York’s state military forces, which augments the New York National Guard as a force multiplier. The New York Guard’s primary missions are civil support operations including disaster relief efforts and state emergencies. As a state defense force, the New York Guard trains on a volunteer status but members receive pay and benefits when called up for state activation. Members cannot be federalized for active duty overseas and serve only within the state of New York.

Areas of Interest
Radio Communications: Develop the radio communications skills necessary to work on the Military Emergency Radio Network.
Medical: Learn CPR, First Aid, and many other emergency medical skills.
Headquarters/Administration: Assisting the NY Guard with administrative, logistical, operational support.
Chaplain Religious Support: Provide support to service members during training and NYS emergency activations.
Food Service: Gain food service skills while serving NY state.
Information Technology: Gain valuable experience while working in the IT field.
Emergency Operations: Learn valuable skills such as FEMA incident management, NY State emergency management procedures, and much more.
