Mission Statement

Our mission is to preserve Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary and support the conservation and restoration of natural ecosystems throughout the Western Everglades. We use science driven land management and education to protect birds, other wildlife, and people.

Description

The story of how Corkscrew Swamp became a sanctuary is one of the important conservation successes of our time. From protecting wading birds nesting within Corkscrew Swamp beginning in 1905 to advocating for birds and they places they need today, volunteers have always been a critical component of our non-profit organization. They lead and support youth education and adult programs, enhance the visitor experience along the boardwalk, help to maintain our grounds and facilities, assist with prescribed fire, and more. Volunteering with Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary means making a difference for conservation.
