Mission Statement
Now in our 25th year of operation, MFTI is a residential program in Napa, CA, offering transitional and independent living support to adults with developmental, learning, and autism spectrum disabilities. We are committed to guiding each individual to achieve his or her highest potential by providing a safe environment that maintains a balance of challenges and support. MFTI fosters growth in social, vocational, and independent living skills. Working in partnership with residents and their families, Moving Forward offers a caring and responsive community where adults with learning differences can enjoy productive, fulfilling, and healthy lives. MFTI is a residential community where *neurodiverse adults can live as independently as possible. *the term neurodiverse includes individuals living with Autism Spectrum Disorder, Downs Syndrome, Lennox Gastaut Syndrome, Intellectual Disability, and many other learning differences. Description
Our program is based on residents’ progress through three tiers of graduated support.
Our program meets with new residents and their families and places them in a support tier that matches their experience with independent living. Our program is flexible and considers the needs and wishes of each resident and family.
Tier 1. Transitional Living in a home environment
Tier 2. Transitional Living in a near-campus apartment
Tier 3. Off-Campus Community Living
Working creates a life with meaning
We hear from families that residents’ happiness and confidence surge when they land a job. "It’s all about the job," they say.
We think that’s true.
We are always looking for opportunities for our residents to learn to make a difference in the world. Volunteer opportunities are a great way for those who’ve never had a job, want to add more experience to their resume or who want to try another job to explore careers.
Moving Forward provides the Case Management services needed to integrate all other services, whether provided by Moving Forward or a specialist or agency outside our program.
