Volunteer Coordinator Assistant Posting: Elara Caring, one of the nation’s largest providers of home-based care, is looking for compassionate volunteers willing to donate their time to provide exceptional end-of-life care to local hospice patients and their families. Elara Caring depends on volunteers to help meet the needs of our patients. As the Volunteer Coordinator, I oversee all volunteers in the area. I recruit, train, supervise and retain all volunteers. I am looking for a Volunteer Coordinator Assistant to work alongside me in the office. This person will assist with recruiting duties, help with retention, and other miscellaneous volunteer needs. Some of the duties will include: Updating internet postings Traveling with the Volunteer Coordinator to post recruitment flyers in the area Traveling with the Volunteer Coordinator to special events, such as veteran pinnings, tea parties, volunteer fairs and senior fairs. Making orientation packets Organizing donated items The ideal candidate will be organized, dependable, personable, creative, self-motivated and compassionate. Volunteer hours are flexible within the work week (Monday - Friday from 8:00 am - 5:00 pm). The candidate would be available twice a week for 3 - 4 hours at a time. Commitment of at least six months preferred.

Contribute your talents to the patients: Games, reading, photography, crafts, sewing, hair care, lawn care, carpentry, gardening, birthday parties, letter writing, laundry, weekly phone check-ins, pet companionship, art expression and music appreciation. This includes: Assist in replacing lost medals Assist Veterans in life review and life history Regular visits for socialization Education / Assistance with Veteran benefits Call or visit Veterans on Veterans Day Visit Veterans in their homes, nursing facilities, assisted living facilities or hospitals Veteran volunteers might consider wearing their uniform and take part in a Veteran Pinning ceremony And providing emotional support for a VETERAN as they navigate hospice care Elara Caring Thanks you for your service and all that you have done for our country. We are looking for special volunteers to visit patients at the bedside, to offer vigil and support. You could hold a hand, sing softly, read scripture or poetry, and provide support for the family at the bedside. Hours are very flexible - weekdays, evenings, weekends or on an on-call basis. We are officially accepting in-person BYS volunteers!
