Ohio Valley Hospice is seeking several volunteers who would be willing to sit vigil with patients in their final hours. We believe no one should be alone during this time. Volunteers interested in this should possess a calming, positive presence, as maintaining patient comfort during this time is necessary. Volunteers may read to patients, play music, aromatherapy, singing, scripture reading, and more! Entering into the world is just as important as exiting and we hope to make this the most comfortable transition for our patients. Volunteers will call home patients and check in, ensuring they have everything they need before the weekend. We will provide prompts and send lists of patients to call each week. Music provides our patients with entertainment, a time to reflect on positive moments in life and just an overall mood boost!
