Mission Statement
We are dedicated to creating warm and welcoming homes for all Pennsylvania residents by providing free gently-used furniture to families and individuals in need. Pennsylvania Furniture Mission also seeks to build a more sustainable environment, and simultaneously allows clients to select their own furnishings. It is also our goal to employ from the community we serve, offering job training and employment opportunities to those who may have barriers to employment.
Description
The Pennsylvania Furniture Mission (PFM) is a 501(c)(3)non-profit, funded by the United Way of Lancaster County, which serves PA residents who are experiencing economic hardship. Our goal is to create warm and welcoming homes for those in need by providing free gently-used furniture, thereby helping them to thrive. PFM offers a dignified experience by inviting clients into our 6,000 SQ FT warehouse and allowing them to handpick an entire household of furniture from multiple different styles, giving them the dignity of choice. In lieu of selling individual pieces of furniture, the PFM has a flat $75 appointment fee. We partner with community agencies, school districts, other non-profits, hospitals, health clinics, and civic organizations to bring our resources to the people who need them the most. We are considered a furniture bank. Just like food banks have shifted to providing choice, that is what furniture banks do: offer the dignity of choice.
