Description

The Mongolian School and Community Center (MSCC) established its roots early on during the migration of Mongolian people to Colorado. Facing numerous challenges, such as learning a new language, navigating new social norms and systems, and finding employment, the MSCC became a community space for Mongolian immigrants.

As the first Mongolian community-based establishment in the country, the MSCC is deeply rooted in tradition, culture, and community. The MSCC is a trusted place where the Mongolian community can access resources and services that contribute to building healthy families.

Over the past two decades, our mission and services have evolved to meet the needs of our growing community. Early on, the MSCC focused on education: teaching English to children and adults, teaching mothers how to navigate the educational and health systems, and teaching them about American culture. As these early immigrants settled into society and began having families, the services at MSCC evolved to support not only those original settlers but now their children and grandparents.

Currently, the MSCC is pivoting to be the bridge of understanding and unity among three distinct generations of Mongolians - grandparents, who came here in the 1990s as adults; parents, who came here as children; and children born here. This generational divide can strain family relationships, leading to generational trauma and mental health stressors.
