HOSPICE VOLUNTEERS CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN A VARIETY OF WAYS, INCLUDING: ACTIVITIES WITH PATIENTS: Offering companionship Reading and writing letters and email messages Playing chess, cards, or board games Knitting, scrapbooking and other craft projects Providing support at time of death Veteran to veteran visits Providing pet therapy EMOTIONAL SUPPORT: Providing respite for caregivers Making spiritual prayer calls Attending funerals Participating in memorial services Offering companionship to loved ones Making weekly "tuck-in" calls Making bereavement phone calls or visits HOUSEHOLD ACTIVITIES: Arranging donated flowers Light gardening Delivering blankets Running errands Walking pets PROFESSIONAL VOLUNTEERS: Reiki/massage/other alternative therapies Music and art therapy Hairdresser/barber ADMINISTRATIVE SUPPORT: Answering phones Providing help with mailings Attending local health fairs & events Creating Chart-a-Life posters New REMOTE Opportunities!
