Description
The FW Black Collective (FWBC) was formed in 2018 as a community resource by local leaders. Our community was looking for a platform that enabled us to collectively strategize and create change within the Federal Way area. We were tired of feeling excluded from economic opportunities, civil engagement and policy developments that governed our lives. Out of these needs, the FW Black Collective was born.
Our collective is made up of individuals who reflect and have lived experiences similar to the communities that we serve. We build bottom-up strategies that are strengths-focused and evidence-based through surveying the community, analyzing data and partnering with other organizations that are aligned in mission and values. Drawing on over 30 years of community work and advocacy experience, we bring together our deep knowledge of the community and extensive expertise in order to empower the very people that mentored, supported and raised us.
