Are you in the Jackson area looking for some volunteer hours? We service many other counties as well. Volunteering for our elderly can either be in their homes or in a facility. The time that you volunteer is 100% flexible to the time you have available which makes this a nice program. Our elders yearn for visitors - some like to be read to, watch TV with while others enjoy going for walks or doing an activity together. Our patients have all different diagnosis with one common factor that they are qualified for Hospice. Patients may be with us a short time and others for years. We are just here to give them the best possible care and your job is to bring them joy. Please contact me if you would like more information.

Visits take place in patients' own homes, as well as nursing homes and, assisted living, Volunteers are asked to provide companionship to our patients, which can include reading to them, looking through magazines or cookbooks, watching movies or sports, playing music, visiting with a pet, or simply chatting and holding a hand. Our volunteers do not provide any hands-on physical care to our patients. Our hospice volunteers have shared that they find their work to be personally gratifying and meaningful, and we hope that you will share in this experience. Our main office is located in Jackson, Michigan but we serve 5 different counties.

Gentiva Hospice has patients in Coldwater facilities that would love to have volunteers to spend time with. Being a volunteer for hospice requires no hands on care. You are there strictly for enjoyment. Seniors look forward to do things with or just talk. This is a great opportunity for anyone over the age of18. From College Students to Senior Citizens.

I am looking for a few veterans that would like to join our team at Gentiva Hospice. We help honor veterans that are now on Hospice. This is a great way to give back with a presentation, certificate, creeds and military pins. The ceremony can be whatever the patient wants. Some of very small and intimate with just 1 or 2 family members, some are a bit larger with family and others are done in facilities as an open invitation and bigger crowd. Myself and other veteran volunteers can help familiarize you with everything you need to Honor our Veterans. Our main office is in Jackson Michigan however we cover all the surrounding counties.

Volunteers with big hearts are needed to provide support and companionship to elders. Your compassion will bring joy, comfort, and connection to patients as they enter their last stage of life. Seniors often have to fill 24 hours in a day so they truly look forward to your visits. Visits may contain conversation, playing games, going for walks, singing etc.... anything that brings them joy that is in your scope.
