Mission Statement
BSF aims to inspire senior citizens to become physically active! By engaging in safe and enjoyable exercise on a regular basis, older people can slow down or even reverse many of the declines typically associated with the aging process. BSF Objective: The goal is to offer our services to as many seniors as possible at minimal or no cost!
Description
In 1991 Robert Brantley and Dr. Cecilia
Brantley, Certified Fitness Professional/
Aging Specialists with business backgrounds,
started BodyParts Fitness LTD to
provide a wide range of health & fitness
programs for children and adults-
including senior citizens-throughout Chicago's
underrepresented neighborhoods. The Brantleys
developed specially targeted, safe
exercise programs for their older
clients, including those with disabilities.
Over the years, the Brantleys gained a
citywide reputation as outstanding
motivators of older people and received
numerous contracts-from the Chicago
Department of Aging, United Charities,
Lifelink Corporation & others-to
administer exercise programs oriented
toward the elderly at senior centers,
retirement residences, churches,
hospitals, and other venues.
Because the demand for their senior
fitness classes were so great, in 2000
the Brantleys established BodyParts
Senior Fitness Foundation (BSF), in
order to expand their outreach and
offer their popular classes too many
more seniors at little or no cost.
